(L-11) The impartiality of designing partial nasals in a single US based tertiary private practice: what the numbers represent in a 25 year retrospective study

Summary:

The nasal portion of this retrospective study revealed that Mosaic Prosthetics designs and fabricates a high percentage of partial nasal prostheses. We aim to discuss why this exists and the modalities in designing and fabrication used to achieve long term care for these complex anatomical forms.

  • Allison Vest received her Bachelor’s degree from New College in Sarasota, Florida in 2002.  Her Master’s degree was earned in 2004 from the Universty of Illinois Chicago Graduate School of Biomedical Visualization.  Her post graduate facial prosthetic training includes an internship in the Maxillofacial Prosthetics Clinic at the University of Florida Medical Center and an externship at the Morriston Hospital in Swansea, Wales. Ms. Vest serves as owner and anaplastologist at Mosaic Prosthetics located in Texas, USA.  Allison is a classically trained artist who applies her color and design skills to medical devices.    Additionally, Allison served on the Board for Certification in Clinical Anaplastology from 2012 to 2019. She was the president from 2017-2018.   Allison’s practice was featured on TLC in a docuseries titled “Body Parts”. The three-episode series follows patients receiving a variety of services in hopes of bringing exposure to the field.
