(L-21) Endoscopic scanning of cleft lip and palate for AM/3D printing of palatal plates

Summary:

A three-year ZiM project will be presented, focusing on the acquisition and conversion of endoscopic images into 3D data for the production of drinking plates using AM/3D printing. Initial results will be presented, along with insights into similar applications.

  • Andreas Velten initially completed an apprenticeship as a dental technician and successfully passed his master craftsman examination in 1995. Early in his career, he specialized in combining dental technology, medicine, and innovative manufacturing technologies, subsequently taking on numerous leadership positions.
  • From 1994 to 2003, Andreas Velten served as CEO of VDZ Velten Dental Zentrum GmbH. At the same time, from 1998 to 2003, he was co-owner of Easy-Air / Lab-Air GbR.
  • In 2003, his professional focus increasingly shifted toward plastics technology and industrial manufacturing. Until 2013, he served as CEO of VKT Velten Kunststofftechnik GmbH and KV Kunststoff-Vertriebs GmbH. From 2003 to 2011, he also served as CEO of KPV Kunststoffproduktions- und Vertrieb GmbH.
  • Since 2013, Andreas Velten has been CEO of IFA3D Medical Solutions GmbH. Since the same year, he has also served as CTO of Institut für Anaplastologie GmbH & Co. KG. In these roles, he combines his many years of experience in dental technology and plastics engineering with advanced technologies, particularly in the field of additive manufacturing and medical applications.
  • Since 2018, Andreas Velten has also been co-owner of Havelfun GmbH.
  • Professional Engagement and Associations
  • In addition to his entrepreneurial activities, Andreas Velten has been actively involved in professional associations and organizations for many years. Since 1996, he has been a member of the International Association for Surgical Prosthetics and Epithetics (I.A.S.P.E.).
  • Since 2015, he has served as a jury member of the annual 3D Pioneers Challenge (3DPC), contributing to the evaluation and promotion of innovative developments in 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
  • Since 2016, Andreas Velten has been a member of the Extended Board for Medical Affairs of the 3DDruck e.V. association. He has also been a member of Medical goes Additive (MGA) since 2016.
  • With his many years of experience at the intersection of medicine, anaplastology, dental technology, plastics engineering, and 3D printing, Andreas Velten is an experienced expert in innovative and patient-oriented applications of additive manufacturing in the medical field.
