    Summary:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Complex medical history, comorbidities, and patient requirements mean that implants are not always the most suitable retention modality under specific circumstances. Raising questions to how we can adapt our techniques and methodology to develop an alternative approach in order to improve current and future patient outcomes. In this presentation, Steven Hollisey-Mclean will discuss techniques used for the retention of prosthetics without the use of osseointegrated implants, used by the team at Morriston Hospital, Swansea. Presented case studies will demonstrate how utilising modern materials and novel techniques enables us to provide optimal outcomes for patients who are unable or unwilling to receive osseointegrated fixtures.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    • Steven Hollisey-McLean<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Steven Hollisey-Mclean has worked in the NHS for 30 years and is currently a Maxillofacial Prosthetist and lead trainer at Morriston Hospital in Swansea. Between March 2023 and September 2025, he was Chair of the Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technologists (IMPT) and retains a seat on the Council. Steven has contributed to innovative research in septal prostheses, nasal obturators, paediatric compression masks, and HHT-related epistaxis, being recognised in the Patient Choice awards, IMPT awards, Moondance Cancer awards, and \u2018Living our Values\u2019 awards. He is passionate promoting innovative techniques that can improve patient outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
